The SaintéLyon is an iconic race on the French running calendar, recognized as the oldest and most popular night race in France. The 2023 edition, officially named Asics SaintéLyon, took place on December 2 and 3, marking the 69th edition of this legendary event which links Saint-Étienne to Lyon.

The main race covered a distance of 79 km, with a course made up of 65% trails and 35% asphalt. Runners start in Saint-Étienne and reach Lyon, creating a challenge that takes place mainly in the dark.

SaintéLyon also offers several formats to suit different levels of participant, including 24km races like the SaintéSprint and 45km races like the SaintExpress, as well as a team relay.

Men’s Saintélyon 2023 rankings

The saintélyon took place on December 2, 2023, between Saint-Étienne in the Loire and Lyon in the Rhône. Among the men, Thomas Cardin dominated the race, crossing the finish line in 5h41’56, corresponding to an impressive average speed of 13.7 km/h. He was closely followed by Antoine Charvolin, who finished in 5h45’42, and Baptiste Chassagne, who took third place in 5h49’53.

Women’s rankings of the Asics Saintélyon :

The women’s race of the Saintélyon 2023 was marked by the victory of Julie Roux. She won the event with a time of 6h39’29, also finishing 20th overall. This performance is all the more remarkable given that she had already won the Grand Trail des Templiers in October, just a few months after the birth of her second child. Marie Goncalves and Maryline Nakache completed the podium with times of 6h54’53 and 7h18’33 respectively.
