La Diagonale des fous :

La diagonale des fous is the flagship event of the 4 races organized as part of the Grand Raid. It takes place on Reunion Island in October, and is reputed to be one of the world’s toughest ultra-trails, thanks to its steep gradients (over 10,000m of positive ascent). The route winds its way through a UNESCO World Heritage site. From the ascent of Piton de la Fournaise to the Cirques de Cilaos and Mafate, this race is a real eye-catcher! The finish is in the north of the island at Saint Denis, on the La Redoute stadium.
