Madrid Marathon 2025 course in gpx
The Madrid Marathon is a real challenge, but a real pleasure! The course is demanding, with quite a bit of elevation change, but the atmosphere keeps you going from start to finish. We start from the Plaza de Cibeles, a mythical spot in the heart of the city. The surrounding architecture is superb, and almost makes you want to slow down to enjoy it.
We soon pass through emblematic neighborhoods such as Chamberí and Salamanca. The streets are wide, the pace gently settling. The crowds are there, noisy and motivating. Then, towards the north, things start to climb a little. You have to manage it, especially if you tend to go too fast. It’s not a flat marathon like Berlin, that’s for sure. But that’s part of its charm.
After the tenth kilometer, it’s off to the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, a must for soccer fans. Even for others, it’s impressive. Then it’s back downhill for a while, to take the load off the legs. We also pass through parks like Casa de Campo, which is more natural and calmer. It can be hot, especially at the end of the route, so you need to keep well hydrated.
Towards the end, we head back into town, feeling the finish approaching. The last climb up Calle Segovia stings a little, but the arch is not far off. The finish is again on Cibeles, with the crowd carrying you for the last few metres. The emotion is insane. Frankly, this marathon is tough, but magnificent. If you like lively, animated races with character, Madrid is definitely worth a visit.
