At just 20 years of age, Ethiopian AYANA has won the Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris 2023.

The Paris Marathon is one of running’s most prestigious events, attracting thousands of runners from all over the world every year. Runners take to the streets of Paris, crossing some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, such as the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe and Place de la Concorde. Marathon participants took on the physical and mental challenge of running a distance of 42.195 kilometers to reach the finish line.

Abeje Ayana, an Ethiopian runner, won the 46th edition of the Paris Marathon with an impressive victory, completing the race in 2 hours, 7 minutes and 15 seconds. Ayana narrowly edged out compatriot Guye Adola and Kenyan rider Josphat Boit to win the race.

On the women’s side, Kenyan runner Helah Kiprop won the race, finishing with a remarkable time of 2 hours, 23 minutes and 19 seconds. She edged out Ethiopia’s Atalel Anmut for first place on the podium.

Women's rankings

Helah Kiprop, a Kenyan runner, won the women’s Paris Marathon with an impressive time of 2 hours, 23 minutes and 19 seconds. She crossed the finish line in a sprint just ahead of Ethiopia’s Atalel Anmut, who also finished the race in 2 hours, 23 minutes and 19 seconds, and Fikrte Wereta, also from Ethiopia, who finished in 2 hours, 23 minutes and 22 seconds.

Anaïs Quemener, the first French runner to finish the race in 2 hours, 32 minutes and 2 seconds.
